❝ APPEARANCE. Amber eyes, raven hair, and tanned skin give Florence a warm air about her despite her cold demeanor. A long scar slices through her brow and eye, her freckled body dappled with similar blemishes. She adorns herself in leathers, colorful fabrics, and various metals. Her jewelry is modest and made from easily-obtained materials, crafted either by herself or other refugees via bartering.❝ PERSONALITY. Life as a refugee has left Florence with little interest in strangers, used to being treated as a pest rather than a person. She is wary and hard to crack. When - but mostly if - she allows you a deeper glimpse into who she is, you will find that she is fiercely loyal and will stop at nothing to ensure that those she holds dear are safe and sound.❝ LOCKED INFO. Florence suffers from a moderate case of survivors guilt and has turned to substance abuse, alcoholism, and promiscuity to offset her symptoms. She is incredibly talented at hiding her vices, however, and takes care to not let her loved ones see her struggle.

❝ Once upon a time...Florence is the only daughter born to Ada Armstrong, an Ala Mhigan dancer, and Frederick Corlieux, an Ishgardian soldier. Ada fell pregnant after a short-lived affair with the knight during her troupe's time in Coerthas. Frederick, unwilling to sully his good name and embarrass his house by claiming a bastard who's parentage couldn't be proven, turned his back upon them, leaving Ada a single mother. (Florence would later cast aside her mother's name for that of her father's, intentionally smearing his reputation and sparing that of her true family.)Years later, Ada welcomed two twin boys into the world: Emmett and Elias. Overwhelmed with parenthood and the love she had for her children, Ada retired from her troupe and placed roots in her homeland of Ala Mhigo. Despite their age gap, the three children were inseparable, wasting not a single moment of their childhood in Gyr Abania.

Following the Garlean's invastion of Ala Mhigo, Ada and her children fled to Ul'Dah where they lived in caravans amongst their fellow refugees outside the city gates. Ada did her best to provide for her children, but the family eventually had to resort to criminal activity to ensure they were clothed, fed, and safe.Years passed, and Florence found herself biting off more than she could chew. Petty thievery turned to bribery and blackmail, the peddling of goods to the bargaining of flesh, and blood quickly became just as valuable as gil. Plagued by the memories of a war she was much too young too understand and now too old to simply forget, she joined the Crystal Braves, inspired by the Griffin of Ala Mhigo and the promise of the life she had been so cruelly ripped from. (Florence and Ilberd were cut from the same cloth, justifying any means to reach their goal of liberation. Although she denounced the Braves following Ilberd's demise, she could not say that she blamed him for his desperation and would have happily continued to follow his charge had he not perished.)

Following the disbanding of the Braves, when given the choice to brand herself a traitor or join the Scions, she chose to forge her own path once more and officially joined the Resistance, vowing to see Ala Mhigo's liberation to the end. Her scars were more than physical, however, and she began to show symptoms of PTSD and survivor's guilt following the events at Baelsar's Wall. Despite her complicity in the deaths of her peers, she promised not to make the same mistake twice.Liberating Ala Mhigo had been a major turning point in Florence's life. With her family able to return to their homeland and her thirst for justice sated, she found she had little left to strive for. She had considered enlisting in Ala Mhigo's offical military but thought better of it, unable and unwilling to atone for the morally-questionable acts she committed to achieve her ultimate goal. Though she still frequents Rhalgr's Reach and dabbles in mercenary work throughout Gyr Abania, she accepted a contract as a sell-sword escorting a merchant ship to and from the distant lands of Thavnair.

Florence played a major role in the Crystal Braves, an avid supporter of the Griffin and an accomplice in the events at Baelsar's Wall, and joined the Resistance shortly after the Brave's were dissolved as a misguided attempt to absolve herself of the grievous sins committed against her fellow soldiers.Perhaps you, too, were present at the Wall to bear witness to the slaughter. Or maybe you raised arms against the Imperials at her side.▍ ❝   the SELL-SWORD.
